The Cine Sapatão collective emerged in São Paulo at the end of 2017 as a free film club whose aim was to give visibility to films with lesbian protagonists and their intersectionalities. Before long, the collective was conducting research, publishing scientific articles, organizing exhibitions, offering courses, co-organizing different types of events and participating in curations in partnership with various institutions (SESC, Museum of Diversity, São Paulo Cultural Center, culture factories, LGBT reference centers, cultural centers, human rights organizations, São Paulo Lesbian and Bisexual Walk, etc). The Ferro's Bar film is part of a wider project to recover Brazilian lesbian memory, which the collective has carried out through various initiatives.
