Report on the 15th Festival 2003

"Quand les Lesbiennes se font du cinéma" invested between November 7 and 11, 2003 the Trianon and the Halle Saint-Pierre (debates and films), in the 18th arrondissement of Paris.
1,668 members and 6,151 tickets to see films: attendance at the festival fell by 10% compared to 2002, no doubt as a result of the change in dates. The 15th festival, postponed to the weekend of November 11, indeed took place outside school holidays. Logically, we have seen a drop in pre-sales (-31%) and catalog sales (-8%). On the other hand, the success of the pass is confirmed: 183 members chose it against 170 in 2002 and they saw nearly 12 sessions each on average.

Cineffable 2003 Financial Report

The three most popular screenings at the Trianon were:
  the opening night (472)
  the screening of Alice (433),
and the screening of Kali's Vibe (395).
Last year, two screenings entered more than 500 admissions.

The entries of the festival party remain constant (463 including 334 members). The room of the "Folie's Pigalle", which is more pleasant than the "Divan du Monde", still has insufficient capacity. The choice to sell the party tickets in advance during the festival has made it possible to better manage the entrance box office for the evening. The smallness of the locker room, however, greatly slowed down the flow of entry.

In terms of expenses (excluding the price of the scenario), the 15th festival team made significant savings, particularly with regard to the venue (-16%), programming (-11%) and printing of the catalog (-19 %). This overall decrease (-9%) is however not sufficient to compensate for the general decrease in receipts (-7%) resulting from the lower attendance of the festival. The cafeteria, however, improved its result thanks to the decision to offer more "homemade" preparations. The use of tickets sold at a specific cash desk outside the bar was appreciated by the team and the festival-goers alike.

In addition, the June festival Best of Mixed was loss-making for the first time, due to a drop in attendance compared to 2002. The association's general expenses were reduced to a lower proportion of the budget overall than in 2002, marked by exceptional expenditures due to the liability to trade taxes from 2000.

In conclusion, the festival is experiencing a new deficit, but it is reduced compared to the previous year. The return to the usual All Saints holiday period for the 16th festival and the subsidy granted by the city of Paris at the end of the year make it possible to calmly consider the organization of the next edition. As the balance is still not ensured, the pursuance of savings made by the commissions remains topical, while an effort should be done in terms of communication.
